RIO GRANE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Volleyball Head Coach Todd Lowery announced on Monday the addition of 5-7 freshman libero Luanna Emiliano for the 2021 season.
Originally from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Emiliano was recently selected to start practicing with the U20 Brazilian National Team.
She comes to UTRGV after competing for Minas Tenis Clube, where she was awarded best setter in 2018 as part of the Sogipa tournament.
Emiliano went on to win the Brazilian Championship while representing the state of Minas Gerais.
She then started playing for Olympico club along with Silva Dos Santos.
“Luanna is a great talent that can both set and play the libero spot at an elite level,” Lowery said. “She has experience at the youth national team level with Brazil and has spent the last six months training with some of the best players in Brazil. She makes us better regardless of what positions she plays.”
