UTRGV to present PSJA elementary campus with literacy recognition

EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Office of Public Art will be recognizing Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD’s Graciela Garcia Elementary for their exemplary reading levels during the Festival of International Books and Art’s (FESTIBA) Community Festival on Friday, March 6 in Edinburg. 

FESTIBA was established in 2006 to promote the importance of literacy, culture and the arts to students, parents, educators and community members throughout the Rio Grande Valley, according to its website.

As part of the recognition, 50 students from Garcia Elementary will be able to take part in the FESTIBA Community Festival. During the family-friendly event at the Edinburg City Hall Courtyard, attendees will be able to watch musical performances, children’s plays and storytellers, local and international artists, author presentations and book signings, a variety of food and art vendors and more.

The campus and students will receive their award at the Edinburg City Hall Courtyard on Friday, March 6 at 7:00 pm.
