RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will host two ribbon cutting ceremonies for the grand opening of the new Science Building on the Edinburg campus at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 and the new Music, Science & Learning Center on the Brownsville campus at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 11.
The new Science Building, located adjacent to the existing Science Building on the Edinburg campus, is a four-story structure designed to complement the existing science facility and encourage continued collaboration and research between students and faculty. The spaces will include state-of-the-art classrooms, teaching labs, faculty and research offices, and research labs supporting biological and physical sciences.
The new Music, Science & Learning Center on the Brownsville campus supports general academics, music instruction and recitals, as well as science teaching labs. It consists of two, three-story wings arranged to create a courtyard in the center. It was designed to enhance learning for the 21st century by way of study rooms, collaboration spaces and interactive classrooms equipped with AV and IT technologies for distance learning.
