RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – FEB. 1, 2016 – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is hosting information sessions at its Brownsville and Edinburg campuses to assist those who are considering furthering their education.
UTRGV is hosting two graduate fairs from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at the Brownsville Campus Gran Salón, and again on Thursday, March 10, at the UTRGV Fieldhouse on the Edinburg Campus.
Those who attend the annual event can meet with faculty and staff from the more than 50 graduate — master’s, doctoral and certificate — programs UTRGV offers. Prospective students also can get information on admission requirements, financial aid and scholarships. The fairs will have informational presentations and can even help you start your graduate school application.
UTRGV will give away door prizes and two scholarships at the fairs, said Stephanie Ozuna-Larralde, a graduate student recruiter.
She said the graduate fair is the university’s largest informational event and has representatives available from all of its graduate programs.
“They’re all in one place at one time, and students interested in a few programs can talk to faculty from those two or three options they’re thinking about,” she said. “Many people who have concerns about starting graduate school might not know where to start with earning a master’s degree, or know how it can help them. Here, they can talk with the faculty and the faculty can direct them.”
Ozuna-Larralde said attendance at the graduate fairs has grown over the years since they started at the legacy institutions. Last year, 500 prospective students attended the fair in Edinburg and about 183 attended in Brownsville.
