EDINBURG, TEXAS – UTRGV held a grand opening, Sept. 6, for a new Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Training Clinic that will provide a world-class education for the next generation of evidence-based and culturally grounded clinical psychology researchers, practitioners and leaders.
The establishment of this site marks a milestone for UTRGV, the College of Liberal Arts, and the Department of Psychological Science, as the clinic will serve as an essential clinical training component to the new Bilingual Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program, which began this fall with its first cohort.
The 8,024-square-foot facility, located off-campus at 2808 W. Fountain Plaza Blvd. in Edinburg, will be home to both the psychology training clinic and Ph.D. program research laboratories, including 12 therapy rooms, two testing rooms and a video-conferencing room, all equipped with digital audio and video recording equipment for the supervision and training of graduate student clinicians.
In addition, the clinic will feature state-of-the-art virtual reality computer software for conducting the latest evidence-based exposure therapy and other behavioral therapy intervention treatments.
