UTRGV Men’s Soccer plays Grand Canyon to Double Overtime Draw

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men’s soccer and Grand Canyon University Lopes played two a scoreless double–overtime tie on Saturday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.

The Lopes (4-4-4, 1-2-3 WAC) outshot the Vaqueros (7-3-1, 3-2-1 WAC) 12-7, including 4-3 on goal. The Lopes also held a 7-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Senior Andy Rios (7-3-1) recorded four saves for his sixth shutout of the season and 11^th of his career. George Tasouris (4-4-4) finished with three saves for the Lopes.

Senior Angel Lopez and junior William Akio each attempted a team-high two shots, including one on goal. Senior Arthur Rogers attempted the Vaqueros’ other shot on goal.

UTRGV is back in action on Friday at 5 p.m. at California Baptist.
