RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Men’s Basketball Head Coach Matt Figger announced on Wednesday the signing of 6-7, 220-pound forward Isaiah Barganier for the 2022-23 season.
Barganier is a senior at Fulshear High School. A three-time All-District honoree, Barganier averaged 16.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 blocks per game as a junior last season. Arguably his best game was against Marshall, when Barganier finished with 32 points, 21 rebounds and seven assists. Barganier also had a 22-rebound performance against Terry and scored 20 or more points six times.
As a sophomore, Barganier posted seven double-doubles, including 19 points, 22 rebounds and four assists against Ridgepoint.
Barganier ranks 25th among the Texas Top 100, 38th on the Prep Hoops Texas Top 100 and Texas Boys Basketball Top 100, and 72nd on the RIVALS Texas Top 100.
“Isaiah is very versatile, can play multiple positions and has a good feel for how to play,” Figger said. “He has good size, can really shoot, and great hand and footwork. We can use him in multiple positions in our offense. I have experience coaching guys like him that are left-handed and really have a knack for passing and scoring, so we’re excited to add him to our program.”
