RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) unveiled on Monday regional rankings with The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women’s cross country team ranking eighth and the men’s team ranking ninth.
The women’s team was ranked 12th last week, but jumped four spots after an impressive showing at Texas A&M’s Arturo Barrios Invitational on Saturday, finishing 13th out of 25 teams with all five runners placing in the top half of the 238-runner field.
The men’s team was unranked last week, but made a huge leap after placing 13th out of 26 teams with four runners in the top 100, two in the top 30, and one in the top five on Saturday.
UTRGV is back in action on Nov. 2 for the Western Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Kansas City. The men compete in an 8K at 10 a.m. while the women follow with a 6K at 11.
