RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – In an effort to advance its commitment to student success and expanding educational opportunities, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) announced Monday the renewal of 22 articulation agreements with South Texas College (STC) that will help students seamlessly transfer between the two institutions.
The renewal was celebrated at a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony between UTRGV President Guy Bailey and STC President Shirley Reed.
“Our strong relationship with South Texas College is so important to the success of students in the Rio Grande Valley,” Bailey said. “We share a mutual commitment of providing residents of this region opportunities to further their education, and I thank President Shirley Reed and South Texas College for being such great partners in this endeavor.”
The articulation agreements renewed are in the following areas:
- Anthropology
- Business Administration
- Chemistry
- Civil Engineering
- Communication Studies
- Criminal Justice
- Drama
- Education
- Electrical Engineering
- English
- History – Social Studies Composite with Teacher Certification
- History – Social Studies Composite
- History with Teacher Certification
- History
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Mathematics
- Mechanical Engineering
- Music
- Philosophy
- Psychology (Psychological Science)
- Social Work
- Sociology
“We’ve had long-standing partnerships with UTRGV, and legacy institution UT-Pan Am and UTB, but those agreements have to be constantly refreshed and updated,” said Reed. “Given the large numbers of the pipeline between South Texas College and UTRGV, we have to make credit transfer as seamless as possible. I applaud the work of everybody making this a reality; this is about all of our students, collectively, UTRGV and South Texas College, so let’s continue this good work.”
With the inception and continued development of new programs, these agreements will ensure a seamless pathway for students to continue to move from an associate degree at STC to earning their bachelor’s degree at UTRGV.
