The McAllen Chamber of Commerce will host a Legislative Luncheon featuring Sen. John Cornyn R-TX, the senior United States senator from Texas and majority whip, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at the McAllen Convention Center, 700 Convention Center Blvd. in McAllen.
The Chamber’s legislative luncheons give attendees the opportunity to engage federally elected leaders on matters pertinent to South Texas.
Cornyn has a unique perspective of the economic status across Texas, the nation and the world. Since being elected in 2002, Senator Cornyn has represented Texas in Washington, D.C., on issues including expanding educational and job opportunities, tax policies, controlling government spending and advocating for veterans. Additionally, U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert A. McDonald will be in attendance as a special guest.
The McAllen Chamber is focused on policies conducive to the economic growth and development of the South Texas region. Engaging elected officials at all levels through its public policy committee, issuance of policy position statements and hosting legislative programming, such as the Legislative luncheon, are part of recent efforts to positively impact economic development, education, healthcare, physical infrastructure and natural resources.
The Legislative Luncheon is presented by Rio Grande Regional Hospital, Boggus Ford Lincoln, Inter National Bank, McAllen- Hidalgo International Bridge, Anzalduas International Bridge and Dannenbaum Engineering Company. Tickets are available for $25 per person.
