Edinburg, Texas – Palm Valley Animal Society announces that it is overcapacity and will be waiving all pet adoption fees in an effort to free up room at both of their centers in Edinburg.
PVAS currently has over 770 dogs under their care between their Trenton and Andrews Centers, but as the shelter of record for Hidalgo County and 6 municipalities, they continue to receive dogs on a daily basis.
According to Luis Quintanilla, PVAS Shelter Manager, they have received 165 dogs since Monday, December 9th. Of those 165 dogs the staff has found homes for 37 and 11 have been released to rescue partner organizations, leaving a saving gap of over 100 dogs.
“We need an increase of adoption and foster placements before Monday to keep from euthanizing for space,” said Quintanilla. “We would be so thankful and grateful to get these dogs into loving homes before Christmas.”
In attempts to make adoption for accessible to the community, PVAS has recently extended their business hours from 11:00AM – 7:00PM seven days a week at both of their locations. All adoptions include Spay/Neuter surgery, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, 30 days of pet insurance, collar and tag.
If you are unable to permanently adopt a pet, but would like to help animals in need, PVAS encourages you to consider becoming a PVAS volunteer or pet foster parent.
There is currently no end date set for the waived adoption fees and dogs of all sizes, ages and types are available.
