Texas Border Business Pharr – On Tuesday, July 12, 2016, City of Pharr Fire Rescue professionals responded to a call regarding a situation involving an employee of a contractor doing work on behalf of the City of Pharr. The contract-employee entered a manhole located at the 600 block of East Military Highway and was overcome by fumes. He was discovered unconscious by co-workers who called 911, prompting a response by Fire Rescue professionals who removed the victim from the manhole. First-aid was performed on the scene by Med-Care paramedics and Pharr firefighters before the individual was transferred to McAllen Medical Center. The City of Pharr has received information that the individual passed away this weekend. According to an obituary published in The Monitor newspaper, De Leon Funeral Home in Pharr, Texas, is in charge of the arrangements.
