On April 11, 2011 Texas Border Business published an article titled “Pharr Mayoral candidate says that poor planning resulted in a “Mud Mess” during the Hub Phest celebration”

In an effort to present the other side of the story here is an update: Texas Border Business placed 2 phone calls City Manager Fred Sandoval on Sunday April 12, 2015 to answer some of the comments made by Dr. Ambrosio “Amos” Hernandez and did not answered the phone. The calls were intended for him to tell his side of the story. On April 13, 2015 two more phone calls were placed and left one message to return the call and he didn’t return the call either. The same morning of April 13, 2015 two phone calls were placed to Mayor Pro-Tem and candidate for Pharr mayor Adan Farias and did not answered or retuned calls. The calls were intended for him to tell his side of the story as well.

On Sunday April 12, 2014, Gary Rodriguez, information officer for the City of Pharr responded to Dr. Hernandez’ comments: Response By Rodriguez, “Amos’s political operatives were neither intimidated, threatened nor blocked from the Pharr Hub-Phestival grounds. On the contrary; they were out-of-line bullies trying to turn a community festival into a political spectacle. Pharr Hub-Phestival has never been – and will never be – a venue for politicking; or otherwise bothering our guests with your fliers, push cards and banners.  I saw Amos’s campaign workers at Pharr Hub-Phestival. They had a blast!”

Pharr City officials still have to answer many of Dr. Hernandez’ comments, especially as to why they defunded the Pharr chamber of commerce affecting businesspeople directly.

It is not known yet, if the pressure or criticism made the City of Pharr to come out with a virtual chamber that they call “a model to follow”. Texas Border Business ran a complete analysis of the site, from page one to the last page, not being expert on the matter, it was very difficult to surf and the system did not let us join as a member three times. Texas Border Business will publish more on Pharr.BIZ chamber of commerce, but especially to hear from city Official what do they mean when they say “the chamber is leading the way’, and why this site is a “model to follow”.
