The inspector promptly contacted local animal control and the game warden to assess the situation and plan a potential rescue. After careful consideration, wildlife officials determined that the best course of action was to allow the alligator to return to its natural habitat.

This incident is a reminder of the diverse wildlife that inhabits the Rio Grande Valley region. Alligators are native to Texas and are often found in wetlands, rivers, and lakes. However, sightings in urban areas, such as storm drains, are rare and can surprise residents and workers.

While this alligator was left to return to its habitat alone, such encounters highlight the importance of awareness and caution when dealing with wildlife in urban settings. Suppose you encounter an alligator or other wildlife in an unexpected location. In that case, it’s crucial to contact local animal control or wildlife authorities to ensure the safety of both the animal and the public.
