Texas Border Business
PHARR, Texas – Two Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) student productions were named State Champion Films in the categories of Documentary and Narrative at the UIL State Film Festival held recently at the University of Texas at Austin.
Out of only four films designated UIL State Champions, two were from PSJA Southwest Early College High School in Pharr. The films honored were as follows:
- Fishers of Men – UIL State Champion Documentary
- Dazed/Confused Ep. 2 – UIL State Champion Narrative
In addition to being named State Champions, the following student films also placed:
- 2nd Place UIL State Silver Medal Documentary – Dream Catcher
- 5th Place UIL State Traditional Animation – Magnum Opus

Arredondo. “Congratulations also go out to their directors, parents and families for supporting and guiding them as they continue to perfect their craft in theatre and film.”
