MARFA, Texas – The U.S. Border Patrol, Big Bend Sector, hosted mock rescue demonstration as part of its annual Border Safety Event.

The initiative aims to raise awareness about the dangers of illegally crossing the border and to highlight the life-saving capabilities of the U.S. Border Patrol.
This year’s scenario simulated a group of illegal migrants activating a rescue beacon in a remote area in Big Bend sector area of responsibility. The demonstration involved a coordinated rescue operation conducted by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Air and Marine Operations (AMO), Alpine Air Branch.

The mock rescue is designed to underscore the life-threatening risks associated with illegal border crossings and to showcase the critical capabilities of Border Patrol’s search and rescue units and aviation assets. The Border Safety Initiative seeks to inform and deter dangerous attempts to cross the border through unforgiving terrain.
