IRVING – 70th U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo headlined the Texas Oil & Gas Association’s (TXOGA) Lone Star Energy Forum, held in Irving featured Scott Mason, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 6 Administrator, Ken Hersh, Chairman of HFI Capital Management, former CEO of the George W. Bush Presidential Center and co-founder and former CEO of NGP Energy Capital Management, along with State Representatives Charlie Geren, Jeff Leach and Jared Patterson. The Forum showcased Texas’ role at the center of American energy dominance and spotlighted the global influence of the state’s oil and natural gas industry – the driving force behind a cleaner, stronger, and better energy future for Texas, the nation, and the world.

“The world has now transitioned to see oil and natural gas, once again, as irreplaceable and strategic assets. American energy provides security and stability not just here at home, but around the globe, and Texas serves as the epicenter of America’s energy dominance,” said TXOGA President Todd Staples. “As Texas expands LNG facilities, builds new pipelines, pioneers new technologies, and produces more oil and natural gas than ever before, every Texan, no matter their zip code, benefits.”

The Forum began with the presentation of TXOGA’s 89th Distinguished Service Awards to Vicki Hollub, President and CEO of Occidental, and Alan Smith, Operating Partner at Quantum Capital Group and Executive Chairman of Rockliff Energy III.

“The Distinguished Service Award is one of the oldest and most prestigious honors bestowed on members of our industry,” said Trevor Rees-Jones, Chairman of Chief Oil & Gas and Chairman of the Distinguished Service Award Committee. “Since 1936, the awardees have been chosen by industry leaders for their extraordinary contributions to the oil and natural gas industry and to the nation. We are proud to add Vicki Hollub and Alan Smith to these ranks.”

Forum guests enjoyed a fireside chat between Staples and Mike Pompeo, along with remarks from Scott Mason and Ken Hersh.

Other Forum programming included a panel discussion, “Tackling Texas-Sized Challenges,” featuring Texas State Representatives Geren, Leach and Patterson, and a breakout presentation by TXOGA Chief Economist Dean Foreman, Ph.D., titled “Energy Markets at a Crossroads.”
