McAllen — Distracted driving crashes continue to be a major problem in Texas, despite being 100% preventable. In 2021, nearly 1 in 5 crashes in Texas involved driver distraction, which resulted a rise in deaths from the year before.
TxDOT is bringing its Talk. Text. Crash. exhibit to La Plaza Mall in McAllen during Distracted Driving Awareness Month this April to remind Texans to keep their heads up, put their phones down, and give driving their full attention.
Throughout April, the Talk. Text.Crash.campaign will make stops at cities across Texas with an immersive TV wall featuring a touch-free driving simulator game to give participants a real-life sense of how distractions affect driving.
WHEN: | Saturday, April 30th, from 10 am to 9 pm |
WHERE: | La Plaza Mall (area near Helzberg Diamonds) 2200 S. 10th Street McAllen, TX 78503 |
VISUALS: | Visitors to TxDOT’s Talk. Text. Crash. exhibit will be able to experience an immersive, touch-free distracted driving simulation displayed on a large video wall. |
