PHARR, Texas– TxDOT Pharr District crews are continuing to monitor weather forecasts for the possibility of freezing rain and will activate crews as needed to apply brine solution to bridges and overpasses.
Brine is a mixture of water and salt that helps prevent buildup of ice on the roadway.
Maintenance crews are currently planning to pretreat roads in Starr, Zapata, Brooks and Jim Hogg counties beginning Wednesday, at noon and will adjust plans to changing weather conditions.

For their safety, drivers are advised to stay back and not weave in between TxDOT convoys while anti-icing agent is being applied.
