PHARR, Texas –Two years ago on January 1st, 2022, a fire broke out at the Matt’s Building Materials store in Pharr,Texas and destroyed the iconic 120,000 square foot timber framed building.
Despite the loss, the family-owned business has worked tirelessly to rebuild and are excited to announce the re-opening of their flagship store will take place on Saturday, April 13th, 2024.
“Right after the fire was the hardest part, but the messages we received from the community kept us going. We’re very blessedto have the support from our community and the city, everyone has gone above and beyond to help us” said Isaac Smith, co-owner of the business. As a way of showing how much those messages meant to them, the entrance of the new store has beenturned into a gallery displaying a selection of over a dozen messages they received alongside photos documenting the early days of the rebuilding process.
The new 90,000 square foot store will see the return of the departments and products Matt’s Building Materials is known for with a few additions like Danny’s Backyard where outdoor products like grills and power tools will be showcased. Theexterior of the store has an expanded parking lot and lumberyard entrance to better serve their customers. The store will also serveas the anchor business for the new Woodrow Plaza which will have leased commercial space for other businesses including the brand-new Brookhaven Event Center.
Matt’s Building Materials will be re-opening their Pharr location on Saturday, April 13th with a day of food, fun, music, andprizes. They are inviting everyone to attend and celebrate with them.
