BROWNSVILLE – A traffic switch is planned on Tuesday, February 4, for State Highway 4 (International Boulevard) in Brownsville, between I-69E and Taft Street.
The traffic pattern change will move drivers onto a newly completed segment of SH 4 to allow road construction crews to work on the other half of the roadway.
The transitioning will begin in the daytime hours, weather permitting.
Motorists should expect delays and are advised to observe and follow all posted warning signs, traffic control devices, and speed limit signs.
The work is all part of the ongoing road improvements on State Highway 4, between I-69E and State Highway 48. It includes upgrading the storm drainage system, converting the pavement from asphalt to concrete, constructing continuous sidewalks, and adding new signage and striping.
Overall completion is expected in late 2025 or early 2026.
