Pharr, Texas – City of Pharr officials, the Pharr Economic Development Corporation and representatives from Topgolf officially broke ground today at the venue’s future home. This will be the first Topgolf in the Rio Grande Valley and the 11th in Texas. The 15-acre property will be located along the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 2 and East Frontage Road in Pharr.
“Pharr has grown tremendously over the course of a few years and that has been in great part to strategic planning, infrastructure development, and our focus on the community,” said Pharr EDC President and CEO Victor Perez. “Topgolf is a natural and perfect fit for Pharr, and we know that it will attract players from all ages, families, and even our international visitors—who often visit our area in search of great shopping and venues,” he continued. “Most importantly, it will spur economic development and create hundreds of new jobs for our community.”
According to Topgolf, the Pharr location will create 350 full- and part-time jobs. The new three-level venue will feature 1,975 square feet of private event space for corporate and social gatherings plus 72 climate-controlled hitting bays that can host up to six players at one time. Topgolf estimates it will serve approximately 300,000 visitors in its first year of operation.
“I am proud that our great city was selected as the ideal site for Topgolf’s expansion into the Rio Grande Valley,” said Pharr Mayor Ambrosio Hernandez, M.D. “We have enjoyed a great relationship with Topgolf since day one, they are invested in our community and have already shown that they will be extraordinary community partners,” he stated. “Our residents will enjoy the venue for years to come, and we look forward to the economic opportunity it will create in Pharr and in our region.”
The 55,000-square-foot venue is expected to open later this year, in Winter 2018.
