Dave & Buster’s in action, doing their community reach as part of their involvement with the community. Raul Gonzalez, general manager for the eatery on behalf of Dave & Buster’s recognized the top teachers from each individual school from McAllen independent school district.
“We’ve invited the district’s leadership, and teachers voted top teacher from their schools to come out and enjoy themselves with dinner and games.” Raul told Texas Border Business, “Our way of saying thank you for the hard work that they do.”
This was quite a treat for all teachers that attended in recognition of their hard work and their achievements. “Quite frankly, we can’t do enough for the community as much as we’d love to, but we started with the teachers because of their passion that they cascade over to the youth that they run into every day,” Raul said.
Dave & Buster’s is the place where you can eat, drink, play, watch sports, also have your parties and get rewarded. The McAllen location has been open as of June 19, 2017.
Raúl also pointed out that the Valley has been a pleasant experience for them overall, and they are excited to be in the Valley. “From the results to the overall morale of our team, as well as the community that we serve, I don’t think we could have picked a better place in South Texas,” he said.
Tony Forina, one of the school trustees for the McAllen ISD was also present. He said that he always wanted Dave & Busters to be part of the community. He even visited the San Antonio store before the McAllen store was opened to invite them.
Sam Olivarez, another ISD board member, was also present and directed his message to recognize the importance of teachers and the valuable work that they do.
Superintendent Joe Gonzalez said, “Thank you for twenty years now, and thanks for the opportunity to be a part of this family.” He continued, “On every campus, I’ve ever been on there have been solid teachers that really care for kids, there have been coaches that just give their heart and soul for students. And I can tell you now, as a father of a four, five and six years old…I can’t think of any other district on the planet where I’d rather be, where I’d rather have my children. Next year I’ll have a Pre-K, K and first grader.”
“I think more than anything, tonight is more about the teachers and is really showing our appreciation to them,” Raul said. “These are teachers that go out every day and passionately teach our leaders of tomorrow and I think that if we can do something for them to show that appreciation, regardless of whether it’s today, next week or several times throughout the year we’re going to try our best to do I,” he finalized.
