Takes Action in Honor of Hunger Action Month
Texas Border Business
PHARR, TX – The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley recently received a $25,000 donation from The Tijerina Legal Group in support of the Food Bank RGV’s operations and response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This gift will enable the Food Bank RGV to provide up to 125,000 healthy and nutritious meals for families in the Rio Grande Valley.
The Tijerina Legal Group toured the Food Bank RGV’s facilities and in honor of ‘Hunger Action Month’ created a social media campaign dedicated to encouraging others to donate to the Food Bank RGV. This support is even more critical now, due to the drastic increase in need for food assistance among Valley residents.
The Food Bank RGV has experienced a 233% rise in the amount of clients served since the beginning of the Covid-19 global pandemic. Donations received have sustained the Food Bank RGV efforts to continue to reinforce their partner agencies across the Rio Grande Valley with food for clients. To provide additional aid to the community, the Food Bank RGV has also added “pop up” mobile produce distributions throughout various communities and food deserts and an on-site Drive-thru Emergency Pantry (DTEP) for the general public on Wednesdays from 7am -10am or until capacity is reached.
