PHARR, Texas – Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) welcomed thousands of families to its 6th Annual PSJA Family Posada on Thursday, December 18, at PSJA Stadium. This year’s Whoville Wonderland theme transformed the area into a festive holiday destination, making it one of the district’s most memorable celebrations.

The PSJA Police Department’s Toy Patrol Drive played a key role in the event, distributing over 3,000 toys to children on a first-come, first-served basis. The success of the toy giveaway was made possible through generous donations from community partners and PSJA staff and students across the district’s campuses and departments.

“The toy giveaway is something good for the kids, and I’m happy that PSJA has it for Christmas,” said PSJA parent Katherine De La Cerda. “The kids are happy and excited to get a toy, and I would recommend that other children in the community come to the PSJA Family Posada next year.”

Families enjoyed an evening packed with free activities for all ages, including moon jumps, a snow station, and hayrides provided by PSJA Career & Technical Education (CTE) students. The event also featured festive performances by PSJA Fine Arts students, including mariachi, conjunto, choir, dance, orchestra, and band ensembles.

“Giving back to our community is at the heart of who we are. We are honored to provide free toys, games, rides, and more as a small token of appreciation to our PSJA families and community for their continued support,” said PSJA Superintendent of Schools Dr. Alejandro Elias. “This celebration reflects the strong sense of unity and generosity that defines PSJA.”

Guests were also transported into the magical world of Whoville hosted by PSJA Library Services and the Dual Language Department. Families boarded a trolley for a special story time featuring How the Grinch Stole Christmas, delighting children and parents.

The event showcased PSJA’s commitment to serving its community with more than 25 food booths, a Holiday Gift Market featuring handcrafted items, and a variety of informational booths from district departments, including PSJA College Readiness, Counseling and Guidance, and other student support services. Proceeds from sales benefit student organizations and initiatives.
