McAllen, Texas – The Advocacy Alliance Center of Texas (AACT) is proud to announce the approval from the Texas Bar Foundation of a grant requested in the amount of $21,000.

Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $18 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation’s largest charitably-funded bar foundation.

For over 6 years, AACT has been dedicated to empowering voters, cultivating a culture of civic participation, and increasing voter turnout in the Rio Grande Valley through community partnerships, voter outreach, education, and get out the vote efforts.

On behalf of the AACT Board of Directors and Staff, we thank the State Bar Foundation for supporting our Youth Voter Educational Intervention Initiative. With their generous giving, AACT will invest in providing high school seniors with voter education curricula and an opportunity to get registered to vote. These efforts can set the stage for the young adult population to become consistent participants of voting and is a proactive means of addressing and reversing the low numbers of voter registration and turnout in the region.

As this school year comes to an end, AACT has already begun working with several school districts to foster voter awareness among their senior students and solidify the importance of having their voices heard through the process of voting.
