RGVBA President, Eddie Garza, officers and directors, congratulate Elva Jackson Garza for being selected by the Rio Grande Valley Builders Association as the recipient of the Lester Miles Associate Member of the Year. Elva serves on the RGVBA Board of Directors, where she currently serves as the Programs and Membership Chair. She has been a longtime, active member of the Association helping to coordinate many of the organization’s programs and events, membership recruitment, assisting with the annual fishing tournament and as a sponsor of the annual Parade of Homes.
Elva was selected due to her involvement in the RGVBA, promoting the only builders association in the RGV that is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) for 55 years (since 1968) serving Hidalgo, Cameron, Starr and Willacy counties.
Elva currently holds the position of Vice President & Marketing Manager with Edwards Abstract and Title Co. For the past 21 years, she has served as an officer of the company and is a part of the Edwards Management Team. “I want to thank the RGV Builders Association for this recognition and acknowledgement of my service and dedication to the builders and developers in the region. I am honored to receive the Lester Miles Associate Member of the Year award,” said Jackson Garza.
Jackson Garza started her career in marketing and public relations in 1983. During 2023, she celebrates 40 years of public service. In addition, she has held many leadership positions that have allowed her to develop programs and services that have enhanced business relationships and the quality of life for citizens of Edinburg and the Rio Grande Valley. Most notably, Elva was elected as only the third woman to serve as Chairman of the Board of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce during 1999-2000, following in the footsteps of two women whom she admired immensely, Jean Stewart and Elaine Hamlin. In the same year, she served on the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors as they focused on infrastructure projects to attract businesses to the community on what is now the Shoppes at Rio Grande Valley and surrounding areas on I-69. Marking another first in her career, in 2000, Elva was nominated and elected to serve as the first woman to serve as the President of the Edinburg Kiwanis Club after over 70 years that the organization was established. Elva has been recognized on the Rio Grande Valley Walk of Fame and presented with House Resolution 1801 by the Texas Legislature in recognition for her service to many organizations in the Rio Grande Valley. She has served on the Women’s Council of Realtors Board of Directors where she served as Program Chair and Membership Chair for many years. She has been recognized as the Strategic Partner of the Year twice for her outstanding service.
