DREAM big with TEDxMcAllen November event
Texas Border Business
McALLEN — TEDxMcAllen is returning on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, with the location and time of the event to be determined. A day of networking and dialogue will revolve around the theme, We are DREAMERS. The event will include a powerful lineup of speakers on a wide range of topics that highlight our communities ideas and expand them to a global audience. TEDxMcAllen will also serve as an opportunity to network at an on-site lunch for attendees. The event will be streamed live, which can be viewed at an official off-site watch party, or remotely.
“McAllen — and the Rio Grande Valley — is home to a community of dreamers,” said Marcos Silva, TEDxMcAllen organizer. “TEDxMcAllen will celebrate our stories, unique culture, and our realized and ongoing dreams. We will continue to raise, inspire and support our dreams as a community. The event will empower the McAllen community to share the narrative of the Rio Grande Valley.”
TEDxMcAllen is an independently produced event, operated under a license from TED. The event is being organized by a cohort of volunteers who want to provide the community with a space to share their passions, ideas, and experiences. The event will be open to the public and will be capped at 100 attendees at the on-site location. An application to attend will be available online as the event draws near.
On Sunday, June 16, 2019, TEDxMcAllen will officially accept nominations for speakers online. Speakers that are selected will come from all walks of life, with the common thread of having “ideas worth spreading.” Speakers should be able to connect these ideas to the theme We are DREAMERS. We are looking for DREAMERS with ideas that will transform the Rio Grande Valley and the world.
Dream on.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
