Pharr, Texas – PSJA ISD staff members, City of Pharr employees and businesses have come together to aid families at the Escalante Middle School Shelter (6123 S. Cage Blvd) in south Pharr.
Over 60 people spent the night at the shelter, which opened last Wednesday to serve families from the area that needed to be evacuated from their homes due to the rising flood waters.
Local businesses like Chick-Fil-A, Fazoli’s and Bar-B-Cutie Smokehouse of Pharr have donated meals to the families. City and district staff have also volunteered time and resources.Â
District families like the Sanchez and Lira Families of Pharr dropped off sweet bread, pizzas, and waters. Donations are still being accepted. Items such as waters and snacks are accepted at the school. The City of Pharr has opened the Pharr Events Center as a drop-off location for clothing donations, towels, and diapers.
“We are so proud to be part of this team that has come together to support our families,” Rubio Muniz, PSJA ISD Maintenance Supervisor said. “All working for the same cause, we are one family.”
