The Bert Ogden Auto Group in the Rio Grande River boasts a team of dedicated members whose admiration for the company’s founders, Bert and Dorothy Ogden, has seamlessly transferred to Robert and Janet Vackar. These eight long-serving employees, each with a unique story, symbolize the company’s enduring values and positive work culture. Despite coming from a bygone era, their healthy attitudes and satisfaction with their work have kept them loyal for decades.

Juanito Vargas, Jr.

Juanito Vargas Jr. started his journey with Bert Ogden Auto Group in 1992, the year the Ogdens passed away, and he still feels their legacy. “They treated me very well. I like my job and have performed well all these years,” he says. Robert and Janet Vackar’s personal touch and genuine care have reinforced his dedication. “Mr. Robert C. Vackar has been very kind, and I’ve never had any problem with him,” Juanito notes, highlighting the supportive environment that has kept him with the company for 32 years.

Louise Sekula

With 42 years of service, Louise Sekula has a profound respect for Bert and Dorothy Ogden, which is evident to date. Dorothy’s kindness and Bert’s professionalism left a lasting impression, instilling values that Louise continues to uphold. “She was an incredible woman,” Louise reminisces. “Bert expected everything to be done professionally.” The transition to Robert and Janet Vackar’s leadership felt natural to Louise, who appreciates their continued support and kindness. “They care about people. As long as you work hard, that matters to them,” she says.

Norma Rivera

The warmth and kindness of the Ogdens nurtured in their company have marked Norma Rivera’s 22-year journey with Bert Ogden Auto Group. “I was very fortunate to meet Mr. and Mrs. Ogden. They were beautiful in how they treated their employees,” she recalls. Robert and Janet Vackar recognized her potential and facilitated her move to oversee payroll across multiple locations. Norma values the Vackars’ personal touch and caring nature, which have fostered a family-like atmosphere within the company. Currently, she is the company’s HR director.

Joe Martinez

Joe Martinez, who has dedicated 42 years to the company, fondly recalls the Ogdens’ work ethic and kindness. “Bert liked to work a lot. He was all over the place,” Joe reminisces. Dorothy’s personal touch added warmth to the workplace. Under the Vackars’ leadership, Joe has felt appreciated and supported. “The owners are really nice,” he notes, reflecting on the positive atmosphere that has kept him motivated and loyal to the company.

Gustavo “Gus” Espinoza

Gus Espinoza’s 37-year tenure at Bert Ogden Auto Group began in 1987. He fondly remembers Dorothy’s caring nature and Bert’s remarkable organizational skills. “She was a really nice lady,” Gus recalls. The Vackars’ leadership has continued this legacy of kindness and strong leadership. “Janet is really nice to me, and Bob is too,” he says, appreciating the continuity of care and respect that has significantly influenced his long-term commitment.

Rupert Cantu

Rupert Cantu Since 1978, Rupert Cantu has admired the Ogdens’ hands-on approach and dedication. “Bert was always working in his dealership and shop,” Rupert recalls. Dorothy’s charisma and caring nature created a nurturing work environment. Under the Vackars’ leadership, Rupert saw the company thrive while maintaining its strong foundation. “Janet’s charisma and Bob’s visionary thinking have helped the company grow,” he remarks, reflecting on his 34-year career.

Gilbert Valdez

Gilbert Valadez With 46 years at Bert Ogden Motors, Gilbert Valadez recalls Bert Ogden’s entrepreneurial spirit and Dorothy’s gracious demeanor. “Bert was very dedicated,” he says. The Vackars have seamlessly continued this legacy, with their leadership and personal touch significantly contributing to Gilbert’s dedication. “Janet is really nice to me, and Bob is too,” he notes, valuing the supportive environment that has kept him committed to his career.

Chris Hatzold

The Ogdens’ leadership profoundly shaped Chris Hatzold’s 35-year Bert Ogden Auto Group career. He recalls Bert’s meticulous professionalism and Dorothy’s grace, which established a culture of hard work and respect. Under Robert and Janet Ogden Vackar’s guidance, the company has thrived, expanding its reach while maintaining core values. Chris holds deep respect and gratitude for the Ogdens and the Vackars, whose leadership has significantly influenced his professional journey.
