McAllen, TX: The Junior League of McAllen (JLM) a nonprofit organization of women volunteers announced that Yirla Rubi Gonzalez Nolan of Mission, TX, has been appointed President for the 2021-2022 membership year. The office of the Junior League President is an annual appointment voted by JLM membership.
As President, Yirla will be responsible for directing volunteer activities, community projects, and advocacy in Hidalgo County. The Junior League of McAllen is composed of 21 Provisional Members, 61 Active Members, and over 200 Sustaining Members.
Yirla, a member of the Junior League of McAllen since 2014, has served as the VP of Finance, VP of Community Impact, and President-Elect. She also serves as the JLM Ex-Officio member on the International Museum of Art & Science board. Professionally, Yirla owns Faro Professional Services, where she provides her Strategy Coaching skills to develop high-potential professionals, gain self-awareness, clarify goals, achieve development objectives, and unlock their higher potentials. Yirla also currently serves as the Chief Development Officer for the Boys & Girls Club of McAllen, encouraging engagement between the club and the community. Boys & Girls Club of McAllen serves over 12,000 kids in the McAllen area. Yirla resides in Mission, TX with her husband Pedro Villagran Jr. and French Bulldogs Fitz & Zelda.
Yirla’s commitment to her community has catapulted her into many other leadership roles in local organizations. Yirla has served as the Chair for Organization of Women Executives, Programs Chair for Femcity RGV, and the City of Mission Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Board. Yirla is a graduate of Leadership McAllen Class 35. “Junior League of McAllen has prepared me for the many leadership roles I’ve served in the community,” says Yirla. “Besides all the volunteer and funding work we do locally, JLM trains the future leaders of our community. JLM has been able to provide the tools and skills needed to succeed in leadership and professional roles, and many other local leaders have been a product of JLM.”
The Junior League of McAllen started its 2021-2022 membership year strong by executing impact projects with Mujeres Unidas, Comfort House, Children’s Bereavement Center-RGV, UTRGV, International Museum of Arts & Science, and the Food Bank RGV. As we work to continue to adjust to the changes around us, JLM is proud to continue serving the City of McAllen community with critical volunteer support and advocacy designed to target four areas of need in Hidalgo County- Poverty Intervention, Family Support, Arts, Education & Cultural Enrichment, and Health & Wellbeing.”
