McAllen, TX – Amazing pitches were heard on November 21, 2019, at The GoodPitch Competition. This event is an initiative sponsored by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce to nurture good public speaking skills in the entrepreneurial and business community in McAllen. The competition is intended to simulate the real-world process of promoting, selling or soliciting buy-into an idea, product, service or request.
The quality of the pitches grows and grows every year. Three judges who evaluated the quality of the idea, the time and the flow of the presentation selected their favorite 3 pitches. The winner of the 2019 GoodPitch Competition was Rudy Esquivel who performed a pitch on the Grillnade, which is a better alternative to lighter fluid for BBQ enthusiasts. This product, with the shape of a grenade, lasts 45 minutes of fire to make sure that your bbq fire starts. Rudy selected PVAC as the non-profit to receive all the registration fees from the participants of the public speaking competition.
The second place, Concepcion Morales, presented “Monalicia” and won $100. The third place, Rodrigo Sanchez, won $50 with the presentation “Light Up – Setup of Christmas Decor”. The competition also provided the opportunity for all participants to receive feedback on their pitch and encouragement to get better at it.
