EDINBURG, Texas – The Edinburg Fire Department would like to invite the community to come out to the HEB Park in Edinburg on October 30th to join us at our Edinburg Fire Stoppers Festival. Our Fire Stoppers Festival is a FREE family friendly event filled with fun and educational activities highlighting fire safety. Come out and enjoy live music, carnival rides, great food, and special attractions. We will also be having performances from local schools and organizations.

This year we will have our 2nd Annual “Fired Up for a Cure 5K Walk/Run with Chief.” The run will start at 5:30pm and will take place inside the H-E-B Park and Edinburg Municipal Park.

This year’s concert headliner will be Slippery When Wet – The Ultimate Bon Jovi Tribute. Jason Morey formed this band in 2003 after answering many inquiries of “Are you Jon Bon Jovi?”. Comedian Dave Chappelle invited Jason backstage following one of his comedy shows thinking that he was the New Jersey icon. It was then when Jason Morey knew he had to take advantage of the resemblance.

Slippery When Wet has played over 1,600 shows throughout the U.S. alone and they have traveled to Africa, Mexico, Singapore, Puerto Rico, Honduras and the Dominican Republic. They have headlined on over 60 cruises on the Royal Caribbean cruise line and played the pregame of Super Bowl 48 in East Rutherford, NJ. The band’s shows are the most attended and the highest grossing of any Bon Jovi Tribute in the country. Their drive, musical ability and dedication to duplicating the Bon Jovi live experience simply cannot be outdone.

This will be a FREE, fun event and we hope many community members will come out and be part of the activities with our outstanding group of firefighters. For more information about the festival, please contact the Edinburg Fire Department at (956) 383-7691 and for information on the 5K Walk/Run, please visit the following Facebook pages: BLUELINE Running and Endurance Splits.
