MISSION— On Tuesday, Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) the Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Small Business Administration of the Lower Rio Grande Valley and the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce held ICE’s Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers (IMAGE) program worksite workshops in Mission, TX. These workshops brought together business and restaurant owners to learn more about the IMAGE program, employment eligibility forms and procedures, how to properly file I-9 forms and how to conduct a self-audit. The SBA also discussed local resources to help businesses grow through counseling and advising, various financial programs and government contracting opportunities.

As a Representative of the 28th district of Texas, I want to ensure that I provide services and outreach to my constituents that will help them be in compliance with federal and state regulations,” said Congressman Cuellar. “This is why I am glad to bring together multiple agencies and businesses, including the Small Business Administration of the Lower Rio Grande Valley and Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce, to help businesses within my district deal with a wide variety of issues.

“As a big proponent of compliance, rather than just enforcement, I support the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers Program, also known as IMAGE, which promotes principles of ethical business conduct, prevents the hiring of unauthorized workers, and upholds workforce integrity.”

Congressman Cuellar continued, “I would like to thank ICE Homeland Security (HSI) Investigations for their focus on compliance, as well as the Small Business Administration for their coordination in planning IMAGE program meeting presentations and for making these resources available to the Rio Grande Valley. I also thank the Chambers of Commerce from San Antonio, Laredo and Mission and business owners in the district for working in conjunction with my offices in hosting these events.”

Multiple sessions were held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce.
