Texas Border Business –
PHARR, TX- Thank you everyone helping make Empty Bowls 2016 a huge success. Empty Bowls would not be possible without the generous support of sponsors, restaurants and volunteers, especially our hard working Empty Bowls committee. This is truly a community-wide effort!
The annual Empty Bowls fundraiser directly supports the Food Bank RGV programs throughout Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy counties with 100% of the proceeds staying in our Rio Grande Valley. On average, the Food Bank RGV helps feed up to 42,000 on a weekly basis via 250 Partner Agencies.
The reality of food insecurity is very disheartening and remains an issue for many in our community. We must continue this great work until the time comes when no child or adult has to go without a meal.
“I am truly humbled that I could lead an amazing group of volunteers that are so passionately committed to ending hunger in the Rio Grande Valley,” Michelle Zamora, Empty Bowls Chairwoman, said.
“Our Empty Bowls Committee, led by Michelle Zamora did an outstanding job this year raising sponsorships, getting items donated, more restaurants involved, painting bowls, selling raffle tickets and event tickets. 2016 Empty Bowls was our largest event ever thanks to their efforts,” Terri Drefke, Food Bank RGV CEO, said.
