AUSTIN – TEXPAC, the political arm of the Texas Medical Association (TMA), today announced the physician group’s final endorsements for the 2018 general election.
“TEXPAC selects the candidates who will support Texas physicians in our effort to provide excellent patient care,” said TEXPAC Board Chair Robert Rogers, MD, a Fort Worth allergist. “This slate of candidates join TEXPAC’s earlier endorsements of men and women who recognize the importance of upholding the patient-physician relationship.”
Dr. Rogers said each of the candidates has the support of local physicians, an important criterion in earning the organization’s backing. “We know these candidates will turn to physicians whom they trust for direction in critical votes about patient care,” he said. He said TEXPAC is confident these individuals will support organized medicine, and they will fight against legislation that could interfere with medical practices and good patient care.

District 37 — Alex Dominguez (D)
District 46 — Sheryl Cole (D)
District 52 — Cynthia Flores (R)
District 54 — Brad Buckley (R)
District 104 — Jessica Gonzalez (D)
District 109 — Carl Sherman (D)
District 114 — John Turner (D)
District 116 — Trey Martinez-Fischer (D)
District 118 — Leo Pacheco (D)
TEXPAC met during TMA’s Fall Conference this past weekend to make the selections. They join these TEXPAC endorsements announced earlier.
TEXPAC speaks on behalf of more than 51,000 Texas physicians and medical students, and approximately 5,000 TMA Alliance volunteer members. Organized in 1962, TEXPAC is one of the oldest political action committees in Texas. TEXPAC also is one of the largest bipartisan PACs in the state and ranks first in size among other state medical association PACs.
