AUSTIN — The Texas Young Lawyers Association Board of Directors honored a Hidalgo County attorney and participate in a community service project as part of its quarterly meeting November 15-16 in McAllen.
During its time in McAllen, the board conducted various business matters and reports at the Casa De Palmas Renaissance McAllen Hotel and participated in a community service project at the Catholic Charities Respite Center.
TYLA President Victor Flores presented area attorney Christina Saldivar-Garcia with a resolution for her commitment to the legal profession and pro bono service to the people of McAllen, Hidalgo County, and the State of Texas during the board’s meeting of November 15 at the Casa De Palmas.
TYLA consists of roughly 27,000 Texas lawyers who are 36 years old or younger or in their first five years of practice, regardless of age. As the “public service arm” of the State Bar of Texas, TYLA aims to facilitate the administration of justice, foster respect for the law, and advance the role of the legal profession in serving the public.
Its programs are designed to assist Texas attorneys in their law practice and to provide public legal education services to Texans.The TYLA board is made up of 40 officers and directors elected from various districts across Texas.
The board also includes liaisons representing the Texas Supreme Court, Texas Access to Justice Commission, American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, Texas law schools, and Texas law students.
The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
