The grand opening of Texas Regional Bank (TRB) in Rio Grande City was a day of celebration, community participation, and hope for economic growth. Guests gathered to welcome the bank’s newest location in Starr County, marking a milestone for the bank and Rio Grande City.

As the evening began, attendees were invited to participate in a raffle, snap photos at the booth, and enjoy refreshments. Jamie Brown Rosas, TRB’s Chief Business and Community Development Officer, excitedly opened the event, saying, “We are so happy to see familiar and new faces here today. This celebrates our commitment to the Rio Grande City community.”

Jamie introduced several key figures instrumental to the bank’s vision and thanked the board members for their guidance. Among those acknowledged were TRB Chairman and CEO Michael Scaief, board members Dr. Tony Falcon, Carlos Varela, David Garza, John Guevara, and executive team members, including Brent M. Baldree, Michael Lamon, and Lincoln Talbert.

Market leader for the new branch, Dalinda Guillen, shared her gratitude and pride for the team and community. A former Director of Economic Development for Rio Grande City, Dalinda spoke of TRB’s role in fostering trust and relationships, stating, “Our bank is not about transactions—it’s about building trust and being of service to those who need it, whether it’s financial advice, opening an account, or securing a mortgage.”

She introduced her team of Sylvia Gallegos, Renee Martinez, Jeanette Longoria, Marilyn Davila, Sylvia Lopez, and Carina Perez, who received resounding applause for their efforts.

Chairman and CEO Michael Scaief took the podium to reflect on TRB’s journey. Sharing his personal connection to the Rio Grande Valley, he said, “This town has so much history. We’ve worked hard to honor every detail of this facility, from the architecture to the photographs on the walls that tell the story of this community.”

Michael credited Rio Grande City for surpassing expectations, saying, “Rio Grande City has rewarded Texas Regional Bank more than any other city has when we opened a branch, and it’s all thanks to the incredible team we have here.”

Alex Meade, Executive over Public Funds and Economic Development, emphasized the collaboration between TRB and local leaders. “Rio Grande City moved faster and welcomed us more warmly than any other city we’ve worked with,” Alex said, thanking Gilbert Millan and the Economic Development Corporation for their support.

Mayor Gilberto Falcon took the stage to share his joy at the progress the city is making, saying, “This celebration signifies our economic progress. A bank is not just a financial institution—it’s a place where dreams come true.” The mayor praised TRB for investing in the city, creating jobs, and strengthening the local economy.

A highlight of the evening was the $1,000 donation to Mariachi Cascabel, an award-winning ensemble from Rio Grande City High School. Their achievements, including Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl performances, were celebrated as local pride. As the mariachi played, the community’s spirit filled the air.

Dr. Tony Falcon, a TRB board member, highlighted the bank’s impact across Texas, stating, “From funding civic projects to supporting student organizations, TRB has invested tens of thousands of dollars and hours into communities.”

The event concluded with additional recognitions, including a Congressional Certificate of Recognition presented by Robert Bazan from Congressman Henry Cuellar’s office and remarks from Roy Garza, President of the Greater Rio Grande City Chamber of Commerce.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony symbolized the beginning of TRB’s role in Rio Grande City’s future. Guests enjoyed food, drinks, and mariachi music, connecting with TRB staff and one another to celebrate shared dreams and progress.
