Several top Texas Public Policy Foundation leaders are slated to participate in a town hall with former President Donald Trump and Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Wednesday to discuss solutions to the ongoing border crisis.
The event will take place in the hangar at the South Texas International Airport in Edinburgh, Texas from 2:15 PM to 3:30 PM CDT (3:15 to 4:30 PM EST).
TPPF representatives at the conclave will include Vice President of Federal Affairs John Hostettler, Senior Director of Right on Immigration Ken Oliver, Vice President of National Initiatives Chuck DeVore, and TPPF Chief Executive Officer Kevin Roberts. All four will be available for comment in the lead up to the event and will be available for interviews at the venue immediately prior and after the town hall.
TPPF leadership knows firsthand the severity of the border crisis. While Washington has done nothing to stem the escalating flow of migrants, TPPF’s Border Security Coalition recently visited the border city of Del Rio, Texas and held their own town hall with residents and local officials. They heard from residents frustrated with the lack of action from the Biden Administration and from elected leaders who explained how local law enforcement has suffered as the Border Patrol has been stretched to the breaking point by mass illegal migration. One local man lamented how, until recently, migrants were sent back to their home countries without question, while another spoke on how smuggling had increased 332 percent in recent months, putting increased pressure on local police and sheriffs.
“While policy needs to be enacted in Austin, to allay the situation here, ultimately in Washington, D.C. policy has to be put in place likewise for the federal government to meet its constitutional obligations,” Congressman Hostettler, TPPF’s Vice President of Federal Affairs, told the attendees.
