Texas National Guard to Offer Media Embeds aboard Aircraft Providing Food, Water and other Relief Supplies

AUSTIN, Texas (September 4, 2017) – As the Texas Military Department continues to support Hurricane Harvey relief and recovery efforts, the Texas Army National Guard is offering members of the media the opportunity to embed with a CH-47 Chinook crew providing food, water and relief supplies to those impacted by the storm.

To embed with this military asset, media will be expected to travel to an airport in the Houston area and board an aircraft that will travel to the affected areas.

Reservations will be required and coordination must be made with MAJ Randall Stillinger prior to be being given a time frame. This access may be revoked at any time for concerns of safety or mission readiness. To RSVP, please email randall.m.stillinger.mil@mail.mil.

Embed availability will be based on mission need, however we will attempt to honor all requests. In the event that requests surpass availability, requesters may be grouped by network or channel.

Advisory: In boarding a military vehicle or embedding with the Texas Military Department you agree to hold harmless the Texas Military Department or any agency or military forces assisting in the recovery from Hurricane Harvey in the event of injury or death. You must complete the attached the Hold Harmless Agreement prior to embedding. Failure to fill out and sign the required form does not place liability on the Texas Military Department.

The mission of the Texas Military Department (TMD) is to provide the Governor and the President with ready and trained forces in support of the citizens of Texas and State and Federal civil/military authorities at home and abroad.

The Texas Military Department is commanded by the Adjutant General of Texas, the state’s senior military official appointed by the governor, and is comprised of the Texas Military Department (formerly the Adjutant General’s Department), the Texas Army National Guard (TXARNG), the Texas Air National Guard (TXANG), the Texas State Guard (TXSG) and the Domestic Operations Command (DOMOPS).
