Texas Community Bank demonstrated its commitment to the community when two of its high-ranking officials personally visited Affordable Homes of South Texas in McAllen on November 21, 2025, to deliver a $3,500 donation check. Vice President Jonathan Coody and Branch Manager Connie Gonzalez were present for the presentation, taking time for a photo and speaking about the bank’s support for the organization.

During the ceremony, Coody expressed the bank’s appreciation for Affordable Homes of South Texas’ work for families in the region. He said, “My thanks to the entire Affordable Homes of South Texas team for their unwavering commitment to helping families. We look forward to continuing this partnership and expanding access to home ownership for even more families in our region.” He also added, “When we work together, we can spark the kind of transformative change that uplifts families across the Rio Grande Valley. The donation goes directly to the Emergency Repair Grant Program, which provides immediate assistance to homeowners facing urgent repairs while they wait for insurance claims to be processed. According to Affordable Homes CEO Myra Martinez, “The donation that they make every year is really impactful.” She explained that the funds help cover critical needs such as tarps, emergency cleanup, or assistance with replacing a water heater.

Texas Border Business also interviewed Martinez during the event. She recently became CEO on November 1, 2025, after serving 14 years with the organization in roles including Chief Operating Officer. She explained that Affordable Homes of South Texas continues its mission of promoting homeownership, which she described as “the number one way to stabilize families and generate wealth across generations.”

The visit from Texas Community Bank highlighted a strong partnership rooted in supporting families and strengthening communities across the Rio Grande Valley. The donation, delivered personally by bank leadership, will continue to help homeowners facing unexpected emergencies while reinforcing Affordable Homes of South Texas’s mission to expand homeownership opportunities in the region.
