McAllen, TX – At their recent Board Meeting, the Texas City Attorneys Association (TCAA) approved the creation of the Rio Grande Valley – City Attorneys Association (RGV-CAA). TCAA is a branch of the Texas Municipal League that was formed to promote, encourage, and advance the professional development of municipal attorneys throughout the State of Texas.
“With over 700 members statewide, the Texas City Attorneys Association is thrilled to approve the newly-created Rio Grande Valley affiliate”, said TCAA President Alan Bojorquez of Austin. “This group will help further our mission of serving municipal lawyers with opportunities for continuing education, professional networking, and leadership development,” concluded Bojorquez.
RGV-CAA’s initial slate of officers includes: Victor Flores, President (McAllen); Patricia Rigney, Vice President (Pharr); Eric Flores, Treasurer (Palmview), and Rene De Coss, Secretary (Brownsville).
The Rio Grande Valley represents roughly 1.37 million people and traverses approximately 115 miles from Rio Grande City to Port Isabel. Eric Flores, Palmview’s City Attorney shared, “This is a valuable resource for the Rio Grande Valley and we hope it becomes the collaborative center for our region’s municipal lawyers.”
The first membership meeting will be held virtually on March 19, 2021, including a presentation on municipal redistricting. “Together, along with TCAA, we will be working to provide our local attorneys easier access to training in municipal law,” added Patricia Rigney, Pharr’s City Attorney. Subsequent meetings will be held the first Friday of May, August, and November.
