AUSTIN – Commissioner Miller will kick off his South Texas tour at 11 a.m. at Lone Star Citrus Growers for the start of Citrus season. The Texas Citrus Industry produces more than 9 million cartons of fresh grapefruit and oranges each year and another 5 million cartons of juice fruit valued at over $100 million dollars. This industry is an economic engine for the state of Texas and is vital for the economy in South Texas. Following his tour at Lone Star Citrus, Commissioner Miller will also tour South Tex Organics at 1:30 p.m.
Tomorrow, Commissioner Miller will speak at the Pharr International Bridge in Pharr, Texas. Beginning at 10:00 a.m. CT. Commissioner Miller will be speaking in regards to the importance of the Pharr Bridge and its direct impact on all U.S. imports and U.S. exports.
An eighth-generation Texas farmer and rancher, Sid Miller is the 12th Commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). A nine-time world champion rodeo cowboy, he has devoted his life to promoting Texas agriculture, rural communities and the western heritage of Texas.
