“Texan Cement has demonstrated remarkable leadership in the construction and infrastructure sectors while significantly contributing to the growth and prosperity of the Rio Grande Valley,” said Brownsville Navigation District Chairman Esteban Guerra. “Their investments and commitment to sustainability are paving the way for a brighter future for our community.”

Part of the Cementos Tudela Veguín family, under the stewardship of Masaveu Group from Spain, Texan Cement began dry bulk handling operations at the port in 2017, importing Portland Cement to meet growing demands of the domestic market. The company is in the process of shifting its operation from a regional distribution center importing cement to a production facility capable of making 400,000 tons annually of Portland cement at the port, ensuring a consistent supply for South Texas. This will bring over 70 well-paying jobs to the region.

The company’s focus on sustainability includes integrating green technologies, reducing transportation emissions, and advancing low-carbon solutions.
