PHARR, Texas — Terracon, a leading provider of environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials services, has named Jorge A. Flores, P.G. and Alfonso A. Soto, P. E., D. GE, F. ASCE as Senior Principals. Terracon’s Principals Program provides recognition, rewards, and opportunities for employees who have distinguished themselves through their strong leadership and contribution to the continued success of the company.

“Becoming Senior Principal is truly a humbling moment in my career” said Flores. “Through the years I have met many individuals that have shown me how to conduct my life both professionally and personally and I owe them all in molding me into the person I am today. The Terracon Pharr office has grown exponentially in my 18-year tenure and I am grateful to a great core of colleagues for their hard work and loyalty. My family has been through this journey with me, and I couldn’t have done it without their support and sacrifice.”

Flores, a Rio Grande Valley native, earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Texas at Austin and has 25 years of experience in environmental consulting. He joined Terracon in 2004, serving as a senior project geologist before being appointed office manager in 2005. He is based in Pharr and is a licensed professional geologist in Texas. Flores is an active Rotarian and has served as Assistant District Governor and twice as president of the local club.

A native of Venezuela, Soto earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Universidad Rafael Urdaneta and a Master of Engineering degree from Texas A&M University. With over 30 years of international experience in geotechnical engineering, he has proven himself to be an expert in the industry. He earned a Diplomate, Geotechnical Engineering (D.GE) certification and is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Soto joined Terracon in 2001, serving as a senior project manager for geotechnical services in the San Antonio office before being promoted to department manager in 2006. He is based in Pharr and is a licensed professional engineer in Texas.

I feel that achieving this position in the industry-leading firm is a way to pay tribute to my late father, a fellow geotechnical engineer, who not only taught me to love the profession but also that honesty and integrity are the main keys for success in personal and professional aspects of life.
