PHARR, Texas – The Terracon Foundation announced a $5,000 grant to University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) to support Terracon scholarships for master’s level engineering students.
“Terracon has been deeply involved with the Civil Engineering program at UTRGV and has many employees who are a product of the university,” said Sam Rahmaninezhad, senior engineer in Terracon’s Texas Division. “The Rio Grande Valley is currently ranked as the country’s poorest region so these funds will benefit students who have the ambition to improve their lives but not the resources.”
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 as the first major public university of the 21st century in Texas. UTRGV has campuses and off-campus research and teaching sites throughout the Rio Grande Valley, including in Brownsville (formerly The University of Texas at Brownsville campus), Edinburg (formerly The University of Texas-Pan American campus), Harlingen, South Padre Island, Port Isabel, Boca Chica Beach, McAllen, and Rio Grande City. UTRGV, a comprehensive academic institution, enrolled its first class in the fall of 2015. Learn more at https://www.utrgv.edu/.
The Terracon Foundation encourages employees to submit grant requests each year for organizations focused on education as well as the built and natural environment. To date, the Terracon Foundation has granted nearly $4 million to community organizations, universities, dependents of employees and disaster relief efforts.
