McAllen, Texas – As part of its continued commitment to deliver important news and information to the Rio Grande Valley’s Spanish-speaking and Hispanic audiences, Telemundo 40 KTLM today announced its “Decisión 2018” Election coverage including the first of five waves of results from the stations’ new exclusive “Hispanic Poll.”

Conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy, the KTLM’s exclusive “Hispanic Poll” revealed important information about Hispanics’ opinions about the state’s Gubernatorial and U.S. Senate races and other key topics including the Trump Administration’s handling of U.S. immigration policy, sanctuary cities, abortion, state laws regulating gun purchases and efforts to build a border wall, as well as the legalization of the recreational use of marijuana, among others.

This fall, KTLM will also roll out a civic engagement campaign “Tu voz en español se escucha más VOTANDO” (Your voice in Spanish is heard louder by VOTING) to help the public get access to voter registration news and information.

KTLM’s exclusive “Hispanic Poll” data will be unveiled on the following days on Noticias Telemundo 40 newscasts at 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM – from September 5 to September 11:

  • Wednesday, September 5 – Texas Governor’s Race & Texas U.S Senate Race
  • Thursday, September 6 – Immigration, Border Wall, Sanctuary Cities
  • Friday, September 7 – Gun purchases regulations & firearms in public schools
  • Monday, September 10 – Health care, abortion and recreational use of marijuana
  • Tuesday, September 11 – The Economy

Audiences can watch KTLM’s live newscast across multiple platforms:

In addition to revealing its’ exclusive “Hispanic Poll” results on-air, KTLM will also make its polling information available on their digital and mobile platforms to help audiences access this important information while on-the-go.

To supplement its “Decisión 2018” Election coverage, KTLM will also deliver a series of in-depth stories that will dive deeper into its exclusive “Hispanic Poll” results. Topics that will be explored in the news series include the economy, jobs and wages, health care, immigration, border security, crime and public safety.

Beginning September 1st, Telemundo 40 will also roll out a civic engagement campaign “Tu voz en español se escucha más VOTANDO” / “Your voice in Spanish is heard louder by VOTING” in the Rio Grande Valley and host phone banks to help raise awareness among viewers about the importance of civic participation, and help the public get access to the tools/information they need to register to vote.

As part of KTLM’s Decision 2018 coverage that leads up to Election Day, November 6, Telemundo 40 will also deliver a series of in-depth stories that will dive deeper into its Exclusive “Hispanic Poll” results, and host local voter registration phone banks in addition to its on-air campaign “Tu voz en español se escucha más VOTANDO”

On Election Day, November 6, Telemundo 40 will dispatch its news teams to various areas of Texas to capture the latest news as Hispanics in Texas decide who their next Governor and U.S. Senator will be, among other key state/local races.
