The well-known, Ebenezer Scrooge becomes Ezequiel Codos from Pharr, TX in this new adaptation from the famous Charles Dickens story, “A Christmas Carol”.  Set in the Rio Grande Valley in the city of Pharr, Mr. Codos is the most powerful attorney in all the region and a big time water broker and land owner. In fact he’s so greedy that he sells large portions of water rights from the Rio Grande causing catastrophe in the future, when the River goes dry and thousands are left very thirsty. In this hilarious dramatic story, Codos is visited by the ghost of the past who is La Rielera (a woman soldier) from the Mexican Revolution era, and by the ghost of the Christmas present who is a Zoot Suiter from the 40’s. “The play has cool music and sound effects and an authentic Rio Grande Valley flavor and setting,” said stage manager for the production, Daniel David Hernandez, a recent UTRGV graduate with a theater performance major.

Professional actor and Pharr Community Theater co-founder, Pedro Garcia plays Codos, “I have lots of fun playing this character and getting into his moods and emotions. I believe that everyone who sees the show, including kids, will have lots of fun especially with our large cast of 18 including 7 great youngsters. If you are familiar with the original story then you, more or less, know the turn around and joy of this tale” added Garcia, who is also directing and co-producing the production, in English with some Spanish.
