PHARR – Over 500 students, parents, and staff members took it back to the 80s for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD’s first-ever Movie Night at the PSJA Stadium held Friday, Jan. 17, 2020.
The event was the fifth held in celebration of the district’s 100-year legacy and featured the film “Back to the Future,” an 80s Costume Contest, Trivia Break, and a Book Fair hosted by the PSJA Library Services Department.
“I love that PSJA ISD is hosting events that allow us to not only spend time with our work family but our own families as well,” said PSJA T. Jefferson T-STEM ECHS Dean of Instruction and PSJA Alumna Minette Dueñas, who along with her children and husband wore Ghostbusters costumes and won the contest in the “Best Dressed Family” category. “We had never dressed up as a family before. I know this is something my kids will always remember.”
The next event planned is the PSJA Family Tailgate happening Feb. 1, 2020, at the PSJA Stadium parking lot. The event is open to the public and will include a BBQ cook-off, games, and more.
“Thank you to our PSJA Family for joining us as we celebrate our district’s history, legacy, and traditions,” said PSJA Superintendent Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo. “We love seeing everyone come together to celebrate and look forward to the future.”
