SAN JUAN – Twelve teams from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) competed at the South Border Bridge Destination Imagination Regional Tournament. Two teams will be advancing to the Lone Star Finals State Tournament to be held at the University of Texas at Arlington in March.
Destination Imagination (DI) is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) International Program that provides students from kindergarten to university level an opportunity to use their creative and critical thinking skills to, explore, meet, and master short-term and long-term challenges. At PSJA ISD, Destination Imagination is part of the Gifted and Talented Education Program (GT) and is run as an out of the classroom enrichment program.
Representing PSJA ISD at the State level are teams from Garza-Peña Elementary and PSJA Early College High School in collaboration with PSJA Collegiate High School Program, earning 1st place in the Technical Challenge and Engineering Challenge.
In addition to advancing to State, PSJA ECHS/PSJA Collegiate HS Program received the Renaissance Award for their creativity in the Instant Challenge.
